Rock em Sock em Clinton
What
is it about this guy? I think the Republicans must be tearing their hair out trying to
figure out how Bill Clinton has managed to pull out of yet another brush with political
death. What is the right way to view this whole mess? If you think Clinton is
a sleazy, gutless weasel youre obviously a maniacal, uptight, Jesse Helms loving,
50s worshipping, sex hating neo-paleolithic conservative fanatic and if you
dont youre obviously a 60s loving, bleeding heart, sex deviant, moral
relativist and practicing sodomite. The brain dead media prognosticators continue to prove
their intellectual retardation with endless wrongheaded analysis and, like a horny crash
test dummy, Clinton seems still standing after repeated political car wrecks that would
have felled most others.
By the way, after their numerous predictions in almost
every case have proven wrong, when are we going to see one of these political pundits show
some honor or accountability and offer their resignations? Wouldnt you love to see
one of these media mealworms have to take some responsibility and announce: "Due to
my repeated, egregiously inaccurate predictions Ive let you, my viewers and readers
down and I no longer feel I have the credibility to continue in my present position".
Or how about doing what Japanese warriors have done when shamed and commit Hari Kiri? I
dont know about you but Id pay any amount to see Gerry Spence gut himself on
live TV.

Let me say first of all, as
one who voted for him, that the venom with which the Right despises Bill Clinton has
always puzzled me. I understand political differences but for a guy whose policies on
business and welfare reform have in actuality been further to the right than some
Republicans, it has seemed a bit demented when supposedly intelligent people have
attempted to portray Clinton as some kind of Radical Marxist Leninist Socialist Communist
pinko subversive, bent on orchestrating a second Bolshevik revolution on the shores of our
great Republic. Why doesnt somebody ask Noam Chomsky if he considers Bill Clinton
his ideological soulmate? Im not sure even old Noam would be able to stifle his
uncontrollable chuckling. The mistake people on the right make is thinking that Clinton
has any ideology at all. Everyone who has watched Clinton long enough knows that his
all-consuming desire to be liked is his only ethos. But in the lesser-of-two-evils reality
of modern politics many voters saw in Bill Clinton the potential for possibly dragging the
Democratic party out of the self-imposed tar pit of irrelevancy that they had been mired
in for so long.

"Does anyone in the
Republican party have any feeling at all for the pulse of the American electorate?" |
 |
What the
Washington elite doesnt grasp is the overall opinion the American people have about
politicians in general: They are, as Woody Allen so ironically put it, "a notch below
child molester." So why is anyone, particularly the Republicans, who have been
hammering the message about how bad government is for so long, surprised to find that the
people are not that outraged by the Lewinsky affair? Does anyone in the Republican party
have any feeling at all for the pulse of the American electorate? Is there a single
statesman in the party who can get on TV and speak in a heart felt manner to the American
people and not sound like a member of the John Birch Society? I dont know what
happened but it seems to me the Republicans have allowed their personal distaste for Bill
Clinton to turn them into a pack of strident lunatics who are swinging like George Foreman
while Bill Clinton dances like Ali waiting patiently for them to punch themselves out.

"Anyone remember when
it was actually cool to be a member of the Republican party?" |
 |
Anyone
remember when it was actually cool to be a member of the Republican party? Not to long ago
it was the Republicans who seemingly could do no wrong on the national stage. On issue
after issue they set the agenda and eventually forced the Democrats to modify their
positions. Now why is it every time I see one of their representatives on TV it makes me
cringe? Now that Clinton has stolen most of their agenda the Republicans dont seem
to have any kind of coherent vision for the future. What do they believe in, if anything?
If they are so against government handouts lets see these hypocrites prove it by cracking
down on corporate welfare. But dont hold your breath. The Republicans need to wise
up and realize that their short sighted pandering to their so called "political
base" otherwise known as the "lunatic fringe" is only serving to alienate
more and more voters and send them back to the Democratic party. If somebody in the party
doesnt start to realize that times have changed and the Republican moderates
dont prevail over the wackos then they will soon be where the Democrats were circa
1980: politically irrelevant. And it wont be Slick Willie who put them there.
