A one-celled amoeba could settle this one. In their dedicated and never
ending quest to demonstrate their total and complete estrangement from the
attitudes and opinions of the majority of Americans and the rest of
mankind the Republican party has done it again. My head is spinning from

…Aren’t these guys the party of Dan Quayle?….. who
accused Murphy Brown of mocking the importance of fathers? … who preach
that gov’t should stay out of the private business of families? Aren’t
they always screeching about how a child needs a mother AND father? And
accusing the LEFT of destroying family values and creating single parent
families? …. I guess a father is only important in a child’s life if
he’s not a Commie. And I guess kids born in a Communist country don’t
need Dads?! Somebody pinch me! WHAT PLANET AM I ON? Am I nuts?….Is
there a new world order? And aren’t these also the guys who are against
immigration in almost every other case?…..
And as for that most loathsome of low lives…..Al Gore.
Who would have guessed there existed on this planet somebody with even
less character, fewer core convictions and less courage than Bill
Clinton?!!! I guess The Wooden One has been burning the midnight oil
taking pandering lessons from the Master.
And screw these idiots that are attacking Clinton and
Reno for what should be lauded as a perfect operation. For once Janet
Reno, the Empress of Ineptitude and her Keystone Kops operation, which
ordinarily could barely be counted on to get a cat out of a tree without
killing somebody, pulled it off. I thought for sure this would turn into
Waco 2 . Where is the praise from the people so quick to condemn during
the Waco debacle? Nobody was hurt. Which is more than those anarchists,
who felt that they could do whatever they wanted with somebody else’s
kid, deserved.

And Clinton’s critics who never miss an opportunity to
disgrace themselves and everything they allegedly stand for, once again
have demonstrated a level of gutlessness that is even more shocking than I
would have given them credit for. These despicable Republicans, who never
ever seem to be against the use of force in any context, and who
constantly carp about how "the rule of law must be enforced " in
every other situation that I can remember …..THESE GUYS ARE SUDDENLY
CRITICAL OF UPHOLDING THE LAW???!!!!!! Republicans calling for
RESTRAINT???!!! REPUBLICANS suddenly sounding like Peter Paul and
Mary????? What the hell is going on??!!!!

These people are beneath contempt. What were Clinton and Reno supposed to
do? Does anyone really believe those nice folks in Miami were ever going
to hand that kid over in a civil manner? Those kind folks who never said a
bad word about Elian’s dad and even said they’d turn Elian over
instantly if only his Dad came here….right up until the day he called
their bluff and showed up? Well they sure showed their true colors!!!!
Suddenly he was a child abuser!!!! I guess he must have been using
telekinesis to hit the kid since they never mentioned it until Juan Miguel
landed in the U.S. These people have no shame. They care more about
using this kid as a bludgeon against Castro than a little thing like
obeying the Law of the land they now live in or allowing a little thing
like letting a Father visit his son.
And on a side note : Doesn’t anybody else but me
notice the contempt for fatherhood that so many in this case have
demonstrated? If that was the kids mother in Cuba that kid would have been
on a plane the next day. Nobody would have dared make the claim that a 6
year old boy would be better off living free with strangers in America
than with his Mom in Cuba. Nobody would have said it
was OK to keep a kid away from his mother . But since
it’s the dad…Ah fuck him! Who cares what he thinks or wants! He’s
only the father. But if Communism is so evil that a father’s
rights don’t count then a mother’s shouldn’t count either. So lets
see these cowards try saying that. Amazing!! And if the father decides to
defect…OK that’s fine too... I hope he does... Even if I still don’t
get the yoga-like contortions the Right Wing has to do to justify
immigration only in cases like where Communism is involved. Because we all
know if this kid was from the Sudan or Haiti or any other country; some
far worse than Cuba, none of these suddenly child-loving cretins would
care. But if he decides not to defect, for whatever reason…. let him go
back to Cuba. Period. End of story.

Now I despise polls and despise even more politicians
like Clinton who rule by them ….but does the Republican party ever even peek
at them??? The American people don’t even understand what all
the fuss is about…One poll showed 68% say the kid should go home with
his father 68%!!!! You can’t
get 68% of Americans to agree on a salad dressing! If there is one thing
the American people don’t like (if you’ll allow me in my infinite
wisdom to speak for all Americans for a moment) it’s denial of freedom.
And believe it or not freedom in this country also includes the freedom to
choose to live without freedom in a Communist country with your kid …..as
bizarrely ironic, wacko and contradictory as that might sound.
