Part 12 of 15

I heard that there were a few occasions when Bill's show would actually be protested by Christian fundamentalists. There is something surreal about people's picketing in front of a comedy club, but I assume there must have been many people who did not like what Bill was saying. Were there any memorable confrontational moments and was security ever an issue?

I actually saw that happen more with Sam Kinison, in situations where Bill and Sam were performing together. I remember one of the first times Bill had a one to one confrontation with a person in the crowd. Bill got really drunk on night and he was talking about burning the flag and this woman stood up in the front row and said, "Hey my husband fought for that flag in World War II.." Bill said, "He didn't fight for me." Then a man stood up, he was like a 60-year-old marine with big anchor tattoos and he said, "I did too, you little ungrateful punk!" They kind of got into it.

Then there were people that would come out to see Bill's comedy. I mean, a lot of times there'd be people that were, just happen to see him by accident. A really funny time was close to New Year's Eve and we were working in Arizona Bay. Bill just felt like trying this joke out in public, it was a gray Jim sock joke, which is going to be Bill's big secret joke, like the killer joke on Monty Python. There was a corny-ass, comic up at the club, at the Laughstop where my girlfriend at the time worked. All of a sudden, right in the middle of this really corny, dorky prop comedy show, Bill gets up and says the joke and also the joke about shitting out children in a trailer park. It was just, "Thank you, goodnight." The audience was just silent. Death. I'm sure a lot of people complained to the manager.

I think liked baiting people, especially talking about the Bible. You are always going to get this retard here and a retard there that are going to take it personally and feel it their job to set Bill straight. Just like the guy that calls in on the public access video about Bill's comment about the Palestinians. Bill said, "Why in the fuck are you asking a comedian these questions?" You know, it's not like "Did the chicken really cross the road to get to the other side?" These are the kinds of questions you should be asking a fucking comedian.

On one hand I guess you could say Bill was able to hide behind that badge of being a comedian to say some of these things, but, out there in the real world you can't really hide. I remember more times where Bill actually had to have security remove somebody because their way of trying to counter-act Bill was just by heckling him.
