Fade To Black presents - Q & A with Emo Philips

Part II of III

Emo's Lines
"...and always remember the last words of my grandfather, who said, "A truck!".

Emo's Lines
"I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, 'I'm going to mop the floor with your face.' I said, 'You'll be sorry.' He said, 'Oh, yeah? Why?' I said, 'Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well.' " .

Emo's Lines
"The toughest time in anyone's life is when you have to kill a loved one just because they're the devil".

Your E=Mo2 comedy tape which you released in 1989 is fantastic and incredibly rare, is there any plans to reissue it?

Actually it was released in 1985, in return for two German missionaries and a Dutch urologist.

What is the meaning of life?

My girlfriend tells me it has something to do with babies.

Any plans on getting married?

I asked my girlfriend, "Will you marry me?" She said, "We'll have to ask my father." So we had a seance...and Jack Ruby says, "Hello!"

Where do you enjoy performing more, in the States or in England?

England is better only because I stand out there as "unusual".

What do you think about the current state of comedy?

Iowa?

Do you ever feel limitations about being a character comedian?

Yes! many are the times I've auditioned for "Moesha" only to have the door shut in my face because i was "too reptilian."

I am sorry about that. Just when you think that we as a society would get over that sort of prejudice. You did however get a main role on Miami Vice in the "Phil and Shill" episode. This was back when Miami Vice was the hottest show on television. Could you have guessed that Philip Michael Thomas' career would come to an end, after Miami Vice went off the air?

You obviously missed his ultra-bitching guest shot on Charles in Charge!
