There are very few visionaries in the world comedy. Only a select few have the ability, the talent and the guts to use their medium as both a tool and a weapon. It's always a pleasure for us when we can interview such visionaries, one of whom being Marc Maron. A staple in the New York comedy scene and known for his appearances on Letterman, Conan or his own HBO special, Marc seems less concerned with making people laugh, but rather in making people think. His material is always well written, always funny and is always the last word on any subject. Tackling topics such as war, drugs, technology, Marc takes social and personal insights to a higher level. Through the end of the summer, Marc can be seen in his one-man show called “Jerusalem Syndrome". Based on a name given by psychiatrists to a delusion of some visitors to the Holy Land that they are biblical prophets or divine missionaries, the show is a vehicle for the spiritual journey Marc takes with his audience. We talk to Marc about his one-man show, his influences, evolution, drugs and Bill Hicks. |
